Pulled Pork Sandwiches

This sandwich is a MUST try!!! The family LOVED it! Next time I will definitely be making a double batch! The kids gobbled it up and my hubby asked for more after it was gone!:)

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 9 hours
Yield: 6 Servings
Cost per Serving: $1.47
Ingredients

* 1 (3 lb.) boneless pork shoulder, skin and excess fat removed
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
* 2 cups bottled or homemade barbecue sauce
* 2 tablespoons mustard
* 2 tablespoons honey
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce
* Salt and pepper

Preparation

Trim pork of any excess fat. Scatter onion over bottom of slow cooker and place pork on top. Add broth, cover and cook on low until very tender, about 8 hours. Remove meat and let cool.

When cool enough to handle, pull meat into thin shreds, removing all fat and gristle. Skim excess fat from liquid in slow cooker.

Return pulled pork to slow cooker and stir in barbecue sauce, mustard, honey and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 1 hour longer on low. If desired, serve with hamburger buns and sides of pinto beans, corn, tomatoes and coleslaw.

Yet another successful trip to Safeway!

So tonight I went to Safeway. I got 2 chex mixes, 2 nature valley nut clusters, and 4 things of BBQ sauce, along with 1 box of mac and cheese. I saved a TON of money. The total for this was.........wait for it..............$0.00 Yep, that was nothing!!!! I received all these for free after coupons and discounts! :) I'm pretty excited!

Also, today I received 4 cascade samples, more shampoo and conditioner samples, and some tide samples! For waking up feeling like absolute crap my day turned out pretty good!

We were hoping to to go to Kearney today, but last night I woke up sicker then sick and ended up in bed until almost 4 today!!!! So, the kids and the hubby nicely let me sleep all day while hanging out and having a pajama day!

Free Samples and Safeway Trip!

So I have to admit, I was a little hesitant about signing up for free samples, because really who wants to give out their address to that many people!!! However, I decided to do it, and now the free stuff is rolling in!!! Yesterday I got 10 diapers, 3 different kinds of shampoo's and conditioners, cascade for my dishwasher, a granola bar, wheat thins, and 2 different kinds of deodorant!!! PLUS, I got a TON of high value coupons to get these products for pretty cheap if not free when they go on sale!!!

Also I went to Safeway yesterday and got a total of 10 items. I got 4 boxes of Fiber One Granola Bars, Special K granola bars (only thing not on sale and no coupon), 3 boxes of mac and cheese, 3 Kraft Dressings. After coupons and Catalina's earned I only paid 10CENTS. No, that is not a typo!!! 10 cents!! I am officially a believer of coupons! I get funny looks when I walk in a store with my binder, but I really don't care anymore, because I'm saving a TON of money!! So far this month we have only spent $100 of groceries for a family of 4, so that alone is awesome!!!! :)

Overseas Coupon Program

Okay, so I saw this over on Bargain Blessings website and I wanted to share it with my 2 or 3 followers! :) This is an awesome program!!
Did you know that military families that are overseas can use expired manufacturer coupons for up to six months after the expiration date?

Sometimes it is easy for all of us to complain that we don't have a coupon for this deal or a coupon for that deal because we didn't get enough newspapers. Have you ever stopped to think that many overseas military families do not have the luxury of even getting the newspaper? The good news about this is that there is something we can do to help them!

The Overseas Coupon Program serves military families by assisting all of us to forward manufacturer coupons to overseas military bases. The bundles of coupons that are sent over are then placed on tables, at the PX and Commissary, or handed out for use by military members and families on base. This in turn helps the family save valuable dollars and stretch their budget!

How can I participate?
Head on over to the OCP webstie and read the Base Adoption Informaiton Page. After you have done that you will be able to select an overseas military base to adopt and fill out the Adoption Form. Once you have that done you can start sending your coupons to the address provided next to your adopted base! It is that simple!

Please note that they will not contact you after you fill out the adoption form. After you have completed that step, you are good to go! Make sure to check-out their tips page too...it has a lot of great informaiton on how they would like the coupons shipped.
